Ubisoft have revealed some exclusive PS Vita features for Rayman Origins.The first main feature is the ability to pinch the front touch screen to zoom into the game. this means you can zoom in and see more character and level detail up close. Ubisoft also say that zooming in may also help in finding secrets in the game. the other feature is a Ghost Mode. this mode brings speed runs to the game, with the ability to challenge friends.

Ubisoft have confirmed the game won't have multiplayer. they have also revealed the game will be a 900MB Download, no price has been revealed for the PSN release.

Wow, where did thatweek go? I didn't end up playing much this week. One game I forgot tomention playing last week is Football Manager 2012.

Final FantasyFables: Chocobo Tales – DS

as I revealed last weeki'm currently renting this game. I didn't get too much further in thegame, completing a couple of extra books. I'm currently a bit stuckon one of the mini-games, its annoying as it really does take you outof the experience. There have been a couple of mini-games that i'vefound difficult, but this is the first i've left and moved on from. Idon't know if i'll be able to continue the game or have to go back tounlock more things.

Football Manager2012 - PC

I got this game via Steam when itfirst came out. Until then, I had previously been playing FootballManager 2012. when I play a new Football Manager I start off with FCBayern Munich, I find they have a solid squad and let me experimentwith new plays and get used to the game without being sacked quickly.I'm a few years in into my game and enjoying it. It took sometimeadjusting to 2012 after playing 2010, and that's one of the reasonswhy i've taken my time and not got more years in.

Ihad played the demo for this game a while back. I enjoyed it butdidn't end up getting it. Now the game is on sale on the PSN I jumpedat the chance to buy it. I've done the first 10 of so levels,including the tutorial, and i'm really enjoying myself. Graphically,the artsyle is simple and effective. Its clear what everything is andit looks great on TV. The music is also simple and effective, thoughI personally think it may repeat itself just a bit too much.Initially the controls may seem a bit complicated, but after thetutorial it becomes clear how simple it is to control.

Theidea is simple, you are a type of flower and you have to coloniseother barren spaces. Each space has its own properties, its theseproperties that determine your flowers. More speed is morestreamlined, more power is more robust. Some lands have other flowerson them. Its then up to you to defeat them and colonise. As you playthere are “Artefacts” to collect. These slightly change the musicas you play. Some games just take a few minutes but some can last 30minutes, but the key part so far is that if you get a stalemate yourable to change your tactics. If this sounds the least bitinteresting, I highly recommend playing the demo for the game.

PS Vita Designer, Tokashi Sogabe, Discusses Designing The Vita And Internal Battles

Sony have released an interview with the PS Vita designer Tokashi Sogabe. Tokashi Sogabe had previously designed the Walkman, Vaio Notebooks, and the PS3 Slim. He has revealed some secrets from development of the PS Vita. he talks about some issues he had designing the Vita, some of which were his own doing like trying to have it all made out of Metal (which means the 3G+GPS wouldn't have worked).

His first reveal is that they did try out a 5.5 inch screen that had all the buttons on it, but that idea was abandoned due to how it affected operating the PSV. one of the biggest issues faced when designing the PSV was the Analogue sticks. he reveals they tried out laptop touch pads but they didn't feel responsive enough. he says he preferred them from a design point of view but Sony Worldwide Studios decided to go with them and where to place them.

Another conflict he had was with the engineers. as a designer he said he preferred the device to be as thin a possible, and this final model is a little bigger than what he wanted. ultimately it was up to the engineers to point out that having it bigger meant a bigger battery and more.

Ed Boon has detailed the PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat. it has every feature the PS3 version has, including characters, DLC, and Story mode. Ed has admitted that the PS Vita version does have reduced polygons but the screen is good enough for the game to look like the console versions...and a 60 fps frame rate.

There are now Two Challenge Towers in the game, the original Challenge Tower and new 150 Challenge Tower designed to take advantage of the PS Vita, it will also be exclusive to the Vita. Mortal Kombat won't use the rear touchscreen, instead there is a focus on the front touchscreen. you can touch the x-ray meter to unleash a X-ray Attack. fatalities also have touchscreen inputs.

There won't be any cross platform features with the PS3 and online multiplayer won't have 8 player online fighting modes or 4 players in one match.

Activison have announced they have partnered with Dark Horse Comics to bring a new Prototype digital comic. coming 15th February, this new comic will be broken into 3 original stories that bridge the gap between Prototype and Prototype 2. Sega have released 2 new trailers and screenshots for London 2012, the official videogame of the Olympic Games. the first trailer is a general game trailer that shows many of the sports in the game. the second trailer focuses on the main staidum on London 2012.

London 2012 is set to come out on PC, Xbox 360 with support for Kinect, and Playstation 3 with support for Playstation move, in June. there are over 30 events in the game set in their Olympic arenas. there are also several game modes including online and offline multiplayer and a single player Olympic Games mode. the game supports global leaderboards and everytime a player earns a medal online, that medal will be added to a national medal score.

Yep this feature isreturning. Its been more than a while since I last did one of these(it was called What Have You Played This Week). I didn't play manygames this week but I got a few hours in.

Final Fantasy Fables:Chocobo Tales – DS

This is the game i'mcurrently renting. I honestly can't remember why this, and the Wiiversion, are on my rent list, but its surprisingly good fun. It maysound like a kids game and honestly it is a pretty casual game. Its abit hard to describe what happens. Its a Final Fantasy World ofsorts, there are crystals, a Cid, and Chocobo's. The game revolvesaround magical books, you have to go into them and complete minigames. These games are simple but competitive and completing themgives you either a Chocobo card, a Battle Card, or a change to theworld.

So far i'm around 9hours in and enjoying it. There have been a couple of times when Ihave gotten stuck. Thankfully the game has a smart way to point youin the direction. If the characters conversation isn't enough, as aChocobo you can eat stuff like apples and when you do you get amoment of inspiration which helps point you in the right directionwhilst not taking you out of the game.

The game mixes up thegameplay from competitive mini-games to simple competitive cardbattles, with some exploring as well. As well as finding andcompleting books, there are cards to find throughout the game, eitheron the ground or by completing mini-games or by talking tocharacters. You can use these cards to create a deck to use inbattles. There are 120 to find and i've got around 50 of them.

The game looks goodconsidering how old it is. The beginning, when you start the game, iscute and fun, and the overall approach is simple, colourful, and fun.The music is staple Final Fantasy music with a simple, bouncy twist.The game looks like the Final Fantasy III and IV remakes on the DS.Most of the game is controlled by the touch panel, with the topscreen mostly used to show the map.

RAGE – PS3

I didn't expect toomuch from the game but I bought it for cheap. I have only played acouple of hours but i'm pretty disappointed. The graphics are themain issue on the PS3. There is pop in everywhere. When your notmoving and looking in one direction the game looks really good, butas soon as you move graphic detail pops in. not only is itdistracting its disappointing. I've heard a lot about how good thegame looks but I'm not prepared to wait and put my game on hold.Another issue i've had so far is controls. I've played a few shootersbefore but its taken me a while to get used to the controls of thisgame. The aiming seems sluggish and off, which doesn’t help whenthe early enemies bounce all over the place. But again i'm only a fewhours in.

Super Mario 3D Land –3DS

I only just got thisgame, a long story, and you know what...its great. Its very pick upand go, the levels are short, varied, and well designed. The gamelooks great and makes good use of the 3D screen and tech. I've onlycompleted the first world so far but already i'm happy in saying thatthis is a must own game for a 3DS Owner. Expect more impressions as Iprogress through the game.

Flashpoint: Kaon Under Siege is a completely new and unique group combat experience located on Kaon, a planet in the Tion Hegemony, a strategically important sector of the galaxy that has remained neutral, groups of up to four Republic or Imperial players must race to Kaon to eliminate the Rakghouls outbreak, securing the allegiance of the Tion Hegemony for their respective sides. This Flashpoint will be available for level 50 characters only and will feature Normal and Heroic modes.

Operation: Karagga’s Palace, is a continuation of the game’s second launch Operation. In the Operation, teams of 8 or 16 players will face off against Karagga and the Hutt Cartel after the Hutts abandon their famous neutrality and breach agreements with both the Republic and Empire. Concerned by the threat of another combatant in the war for galactic control, both factions send teams of their most powerful heroes to confront Karagga and determine his intentions. This Operation will feature Normal, Heroic and Nightmare difficulty modes.
